Topic: Business Basics

Do you fantasize about quitting your 9-5 and working for yourself? While it’s complicated and scary, you don’t have to have all the answers right away — but there are some important things to consider before taking the leap. Learn about how travel entrepreneur Laura Ericson quit her 14-year career in higher education in 2021 to pursue her dream of starting a travel business and the lessons she’s learned along the way. She’ll tell you all the things she’s had to figure out on her own, how she advertised her growing business for free, and who she enlisted for support along the way. ABOUT LAURA ERICSON After getting a divorce and quitting her 14-year career at CVTC in 2021, Laura Ericson founded Laura Ericson Group Trips, a boutique travel company that focuses on off the beaten path travel experiences around the world. She has traveled to over 20 countries, lived abroad in Spain twice, and is an experienced travel hacker, finding the best ways to travel the world on a budget using points and miles. Laura has spoken at many national conferences around the United States on various subjects, including traveling on a budget, social media and marketing, and financial literacy.
